Three steps, no booking
Marbling isn't on Art Play's public timetable at the moment. If you love swirling colour, the closest workshop you can book online is Sip and Pour, our acrylic pouring class, where you create abstract art with fluid paint techniques. Planning a group event? Ask us about a private session.
Workshops to try if you like marbling
1. Acrylic pouring: dirty pours, string pulls and cup painting on canvas. 1.5 hours, £55.
2. Lino printing: design and carve a block, then print your own artwork. £38.
3. Kids' tie dye: children experiment with colour and pattern on a t-shirt or vest. £18.
4. 3-Week Watercolour Course: wet-on-wet washes, gradients and colour mixing. £90.
5. FreeFlow painting: experiment on canvas at your own pace for up to two hours, from £16.
All of these are beginner-friendly, with materials included. If marbling is specifically what you're after for a private group of 8 or more, tell us your date and numbers and we'll let you know whether we can run it.

What is paper marbling?
Marbling is the technique of floating inks or paints on the surface of a liquid, combing them into patterns and lifting the design onto paper or fabric. No two prints are the same. It's sometimes described as painting on water, and it has been used for centuries to decorate book endpapers and stationery.
Acrylic pouring: the closest thing we run
Like marbling, acrylic pouring is about letting colour move. In our Sip and Pour workshop you're guided through simple, satisfying techniques, then create your own abstract painting to take home. Paints, canvases and aprons are provided. It can get messy, so wear something you don't mind getting paint on.
Marbling for private groups
Organising a hen party, birthday or team event and want marbling on the agenda? Use the private bookings page to tell us what you have in mind. Private workshops at Art Play run for groups of 8 or more at our Shoreditch and Chelsea studios.
